Supports standard passenger cars/MPVs, motorcycles, light trucks up to 7,000 lbs GVW, and
eligible historic/Class L vehicles.
Used to determine Maryland registration (plate) fees.
For historic vehicles 60+ years old, Maryland charges a one-time $50 Class L registration
instead of a yearly amount. That’s why the estimate may look different from standard registrations.
Some plate types may have additional MVA fees or eligibility rules. This tool uses standard plate
fees unless surcharges are configured.
Used to calculate Maryland’s EV / PHEV MVA surcharges, which are shown as a separate line in the estimate.
Plug-in hybrid and battery electric vehicles use the same base registration fee schedule shown here.
This estimator also adds Maryland’s current EV / PHEV surcharges on top of the base registration,
based on whether you choose a 1-year or 2-year term. Those amounts appear in the
EV / PHEV Surcharge line of your estimate.
HOV permits for plug-in vehicles ended and are no longer issued.
